At Cornmarket Street Dental Practice we are able to provide patients with wrinkle reduction treatments to treat dynamic lines of the face and dermal fillers to treat resting facial lines. Wrinkle reduction treatments and dermal fillers can be used to treat the following areas:

  • Forehead lines
  • Glabella lines
  • Laughter lines or Crows feet
  • Nose to mouth lines
  • Lips
  • Marionette lines
  • Neck lines

What do we use for wrinkle reduction treatment?
Botulinum Toxin is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum Bacterium. It has been approved for cosmetic use and is injected into the facial muscles directly in very small amounts.

How does it work?
It works by blocking nerve impulses in the facial muscles, thus making the muscles less active. This leads to softening and smoothing of wrinkles in the face.

How long does it last for?
It starts to take effect after 3 days and lasts for 3 – 6 months. Every face is unique and we recommend treatments every 4 months maintain the effect.

Is the treatment painful?
Clients may feel slight discomfort during the treatment itself but it is rare for treatment to be painful. With wrinkle reduction injections you will have a little redness that will subside after a few hours and you should be able to return to work that day.

What are Dermal Fillers?
Fillers such as Restylane fill out and reduce wrinkles whilst adding volume to different areas of the face. The main component of filler is hyaluronic acid, a biosynthesized version of one of the body’s own natural substances.

How does it work?
The amount of hyaluronic acid produced by the body decreases as we age; as a result we lose moisture from the body, the skin becomes dryer, thinner and less supple. This makes the skin more prone to the development of wrinkles. Injecting Dermal fillers into the skin adds volume where the body’s own hyaluronic acid has been depleted thus reducing wrinkles in the treated area.

How long does it last for?
It starts to take effect immediately and lasts approximately 6 months. Every face is unique and we recommend treatments every 6 months to maintain the effect.

Is the treatment painful?
Clients may feel slight discomfort during the treatment itself but it is rare for treatment to be painful. You will have a little redness that will subside after a few hours and you should be able to return to work that day.
